The Blizzard
October 24, 2008
My wife and I drove down to Oklahoma for a wedding this weekend and had some interesting road conditions on the way. Wednesday afternoon after we were off of work we left and drove to Goodland Kansas and stayed the night there. It was a little chilly, but roads were dray and we were good to go. We woke up at 4:30 am and left at 5. It was almost blizzard conditions, I haven’t seen it snow that hard in a long time. So we got on the road and it was about 100 miles before we drove out of it. On the road i could hardly see in front of me, and apparently the state of Kansas doesn’t see it in their interest to invest in reflector poles. So it was even harder to tell where the road was. I got behind a semi and had to follow his tracks, but thank the Lord we got through it. I began thinking about it more and I think sometimes that’s how God wants our walk with him to be. We can only see a little ways in front of us and we have to rely on Him to get us where He wants us to go.
I love making plans, I would plan out my whole life if I could, finances and all. I feel the same way with Fusion, sometimes I feel like I’m not doing my job as a youth pastor because I don’t have every trip planned out. But that’s missing it, the Lord wants us to rely on Him. Take our steps one at a time and enjoy the process that He brings us through each day. For me that means finding Joy in my job each day, it means enjoying the time I get to minister to a student today. I’m excited about the Lord is doing in our lives and what He is doing in Fusion Student Ministries today, for me its hard to enjoy the blizzard but it forces me to focus on what is right in front of me.
